A.T.H.E.N.S.: Access to Higher Education through Need-based Support


Programme Overview

    Scope: To support students from Greece wishing to study abroad.
    Support Offered:
    • Financial support for the required university entry examinations, including A-levels, SATs and in some cases IB exams, and other relevant admissions tests such as ESAT, TMUA, UCAT and English language certificates for eligible students. This programme is not restricted to specific subjects.
    • Participation for students from Greece in the University of Oxford’s COMPOS programme providing tuition and mentoring in maths and physics for students interested in STEM
    Number of Awards: Up to 100 per academic year
    Eligibility:
    • All state school students and recent graduates.
    • Private school scholarship students for whom the cost of exam fees is not included in their scholarship.
    • In exceptional cases, private school students who are taking additional exams.
    • Fluency in both Greek and English is required.

Selection Process

    The selection process will prioritise:
    • Academic excellence
    • Attendance at a non-private school
    • Residency in remote areas of Greece
    • Socioeconomic factors

A.     Support for costs related to applications for undergraduate courses

How to Apply


Applications are accepted by ARTEMIS on a rolling basis.

To apply, students must complete the online application form, in English.

Application

Applicants will be asked to provide the following:

  1. Applicant details
  2. List of academic achievements, extracurriculars, volunteer or work experience
  3. Personal statement (up to 200 words)
  4. Up to five undergraduate courses they intend to apply to, including:
    1. University/course description
    2. Entry requirements and application deadlines
    3. Details of required exams or certifications, including cost and exam location

Only online applications will be accepted.

All eligible applications will be reviewed by an Evaluation Committee appointed by ARTEMIS.
Additional supporting documents and an interview may be requested during the evaluation process.

Important: Candidates are solely responsible for securing admission to their chosen undergraduate programme, following their university of choice’s application process and deadlines.


B.     Participation in the University of Oxford’s COMPOS programme

How to Apply


Applications are submitted directly via the COMPOS website by 1st October 2026. Initial applications will be reviewed by COMPOS. Successful applicants from Greece will be referred to ARTEMIS. ARTEMIS will contact successful COMPOS applicants to review their eligibility for the programme as part of ARTEMIS’ evaluation process. Additional supporting documents and an interview may be requested by ARTEMIS during the evaluation process.
